SELF DIAGNOSTIC BOX

In line with my own definition of good health, where am I now?

I realise this seems a strange thing to ask you to consider. The reason I ask is because we are all at different levels of health and for some of us good health would just mean being able to walk up the street without getting out of breath. For others it means being full of energy. You need to determine your own definition of health before you will know if you have it or not. Spend some time thinking about the answer and write it down in your note book.

Time For Your Passions?

Time is your most important commodity. There, I have said it. You cannot afford to waste any time because it is not refundable. You cannot mortgage it or borrow it from someone else. You are given the same amount every day and, at the end of the day, it has gone.

Everyone has the same amount, it is what you do with it that is the important part. I am not suggesting that you currently waste time deliberately; it’s just that, as a business owner, you can easily become involved in the details and gradually create unhealthy processes, procedures and politics. These all absorb your time unproductively. Read More

The Easiest & Most Effective Relationship Tip In Difficult Situations

This is a great tip that I use when confronted with difficult situations. It is the simplest technique you will learn in the Personal Success Handbook and yet it is one of the most powerful ones. It is called Low ‘n’ slow, and all you need to do is to speak in a very low tone and at a slower pace.

If you lower you tone by one or two levels you will disarm the situation. Determine your level of speaking normally and mark the level out of 10, where 10 is shouting and 0 is not speaking. Practice going up and down the scale until you know what number you speak at normally. Now all you do is lower your voice one to two levels. For example if you find your normal voice tone is level six on your scale then during confrontation or conflict, lower your tone by two levels. Use the same technique for your speed of speaking, with level 10 being nearly garbled it is so fast and 0 is not speaking. Read More

Reframing is a brilliant tool in allowing you to help your clients to escape from being ‘stuck in a rut of thinking’. You may be familiar with the well used saying, ‘Is the cup half empty or half full?’ Reframing allows you to move your client from seeing a half empty cup to seeing one that is half full.

It is essential that you can spot the Read More

Do You Network or Tactically Socialise?

Tactical socialising is based on the belief that you need to build and grow your contact list using the kind of tactics that powerful people use. The effectiveness of your contact list is directly a result of the methods and strategies you use to grow and develop it. I think that many business owners do not consciously work on their lists because they tried it once (joined a networking group) and did not like it or they do not understand the benefits of growing the list and selecting targets from the list to focus on. Behaviours Responses Affect Confidence

Understanding and getting in control of your behaviours will reduce stress and increase your confidence. Before we do that I want you to take a look at some interpretations of events. Is the picture of bunnies good or bad? There is a significant upside to getting in touch with your interpretation patterns as they can reveal some self-defeating and inappropriate behaviours. There are predispositions that may give you clues to the way you react according to your interpretation or view of reality.

Framing And The Coaching Session

When a painting is framed it is not changed. But, the way the colours and shapes are strengthened or lessened can be dramatically altered and thus affect the interpretation intended by the artist. The frame can make the painting more appealing, more exciting, dull and lacklustre or, simply not worth mentioning. Artists have been known to spend weeks or even years choosing the perfect frame for their work. Framing is so important that they sometimes experiment by putting several different frames around the painting until they find the ideal one. The frame is uniquely suited to the picture and harmoniously enhances every fine quality and potential of the creative work.

So what has all this talk about artists, paintings and frames to do with life coaching? The ability to listen to Read More

The biggest secret of coaching success is that there are no secrets. Life coaching is about the practical application of proven procedures with commitment. Although there are no trade secrets, there are several tips that established coaches have learned from hard work and experience.

Starting a new practice may seem a daunting prospect and indeed, it is a big step into your future, but the really good news is that you do not have to change or vary your current life style too much.
